Rotawalk for Cancer - 17th May 2009
About Rotawalk
The Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh is organising a sponsored walk aimed at boosting donations to a wide range of cancer charities, hospices and related organisations. This follows last year’s very successful sponsored walk which raised funds for many different charities.
You can download a poster for this event here.
The Rotawalk will take place on Sunday 17th May around the Dinton Pastures Country Park, an area of beautiful parkland between Woodley and Hurst in Berkshire. It should especially appeal to people living in Reading, Wokingham and Thames Valley. Last year’s sponsored walk was very successful with over £4000 being raised for charities. (see separate page for more details)
The 2009 Rotawalk will be specifically for cancer charity supporters. It will be over a distance of five kilometres around the lakes of the Dinton Pastures Park. More determined walkers can do more than one lap or even run if they wish to raise more sponsorship. We will completely manage the organisation of the event. This will include publicity via our website for the chosen cancer charities , printing of leaflets, contacts with the media and provision of facilities (water stations, checking in and out for participants etc). We are also organising a nature trail for children.
There is a charge £5 per participating adult with free entry for all up to 16 years of age for the charity walk,. Families will be very welcome. The entry fee will cover costs of running the sponsored walk and any surplus will be donated to community initiatives including those involved with cancer that we support in the local area.
This event is just one of many Rotary fund raising projects being organised this year and many Charities will benefit from the money raised.
